If the worst comes to the worst, you can re charm one. one of the quests that Master Ranger nente (am sure its him) gives you requires you to show him a stalker and tells you where to find one. He's out along the wall heading towards the breach and gate guard torin (?). Not got access to the wiki's at work to confirm specifics, but this should point you in the right direction

I had this happen to me before. I wound up having to goto the Tamer and give him my dead pet, if you havn't already and retame my pet. This happened to me in pre searing after doing the melandru quest. it is easy enough to get a new stalker though.

do u realise your pet isnt with you in a town?

walk out of a portal and see if its there

I Was In A Firefight With Some Charr And After I Bet Them My Pet Was Gone And I Could Not Find The Corpse So I Am Just Going To Get A New Pet.

Silly Me But I Thought I Had Charm Animal In Skill Bar But Did Not As Soon As I Put It Back My Pet Reappeared.
